Unemployment

My parents take me to crazy places. We went camping by a lake in Colorado. It was nice, but since there was nobody there but us, and a lot of birds, I was so bored. I even got to stay outside by myself all day, cause there was nopawdy around.

All day long I sat around. But I got to chase sticks when
my people would stop working for a few minutes.

I kept an eye on the place too.
Hey wait, who is that?

Oh, just you Dad.

Wait, there’s a bird!

Hmmph! Birds are boring. Oh well.

There’s nothing to do here!
Can we please go somewhere so I can get a job?

Geek Dog Makes Contact at the VLA

Tripawd Wyatt stands guard at the Very Large Array in New Mexico.

There we were, driving across the desert on our way to BlogPaws. When all of a sudden, something very large appeared.

Dad pulled over the RV. He said something to mom like:

First rule in government spending: why build one, when you can have two at twice the price?
— S.R. Hadden, from the movie “Contact”

I got out. I HAD to see what these things were. There was a sign; what do you mean we can’t go in?

I looked ahead, I looked around. This was big. Very big. A job had to be done and done right. I sat down and said to Mom and Dad:

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

A job had to be done, and done right. I was ready for the challenge. But was the VLA ready for me?

Gimme some grass, man!

Wyatt rolls in cut grass at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, Texas after boondocking in Black Gap for a month.

Grass. Oh Man, Grass!

Grass! Grass! Green Grass! Oh Yeah!

Dawg, I loves me some cool, cut grass. Especially after spending a month in the dry and dusty desert.

The only thing I dig better than grass—besides food—is a bunch o’ deep snow! But I guess we won’t be seeing any of that for quite a while now.

How’s the weather where you are?

It’s very warm here today. I miss the snow. I think I’ll pretend it’s cold outside.

Opening my presents is hard work!

I’m a little sleepy.
All this warm weather makes me itchy so my people gave me something called Benadrill.

I think I’ll go take a nap. Hoppy Christmas!

The Oaktown Pack Runs Again

Wyatt Ray visits with the Oaktown Pack for a three legged German Shepherd Smackdown!

So my peeps took me on a long winding road trip after visiting the big boring city, and I had no idea what was about to happen.
