Fun with Dipper at the Reno Dog Park

Video with three legged german Shepherd puppy Wyatt and Dipper playing at Rancho San RAfael off leash dog park in Reneo NV.

It is often asked in the discussion forums how we tripawd dogs do at the dog park. Well, before we left Fernley, NV I got to go to the biggest dog park I’ve ever seen in Reno.

There was about 20 acres to run around, but I chose to keep playing in one spot with this cute gal dog I met…

Dipper was a big girl who liked to play ruff. We took turns being Alpha, and had lots of fun. I got really good and tired, so my peeps could trust me alone in the truck while they enjoyed a long buffet brunch. I was sacked out the whole time and didn’t feel like doing any damage. But they didn’t even bring me any leftovers!

Tasty Treats Found on the Road

Three legged Shepherd puppy Wyatt eats a road flare for lunch.

Everyone says puppies are so mischevious, so I thought I’d live up to that rep.

Right now I’m driving up with my pawrents to see Codie Rae, Smokey B., and the adoptable Travis Ray in the mountains. I got bored sitting in the back of my Granddad’s car that we borrowed, and found something really cool to sink my teeth into. Guess what it was?

A first aid kit! Yeah, I found a really cool first aid kit in the back where I’m sitting. The antiseptic didn’t taste so good, but the road flare gave me some good chewing action. I was chomping away when Dad said to Mom, “Uh, I think you’d better check on him…”

And Mom turned around and screamed! I just don’t get what the big deal is. I was calm and quiet and just chomping away on the road flare.

Mom yells “you have three kongs, a tire and a bear, and you still eat the road flare! What’s UP with that?!!!”

She’s on the Internet now, looking for the ingredients in a road flare. I can tell you, it was about as tasty as a piece of bark. I feel pretty good, don’t see why she is so worked up.

Oh what fun, I can’t wait to see my pals and tell them what I found!

Hoppy Christmas Everyone!

Three legged Wyatt Ray Dawg’s first Christmas.

Yesterday we went to a big pawty. There were presents and food and dog cookies and even a great big tree inside the house with lights on it! I don’t know why, but the humans seemed to think December 24th was a big deal.

All of my pawrents human family was there and I got to meet everyone. There were some little dogs there too, I guess they were my cousins, and they kept trying to attack me. Those little white dogs made me really nervous. I stayed inside with Mom and Dad all night and even though it was really noisy and I was just a little scared (just a little!), I didn’t eat the little dogs or jump on the humans. When it was all over I was so tired.

Then today, we had another pawty! A smaller one and it was just us. But I got presents from this guy called “Santa” and Spirit Jerry! Lots of new toys and a Kong and another crazy toy that Dad says I can chew on all I want! Wow.

Thanks Mom and Dad and Mr. Jesus and Santa and Jerry and everyone, I don’t know what I did to deserve this pawty but it was sure fun! Thanks for the cool toys!

A Tree in the House?

Three legged dog Wyatt Ray visits in Los Angeles for his first Tripawd Christmas.

So, hey Cousin Bailey, nice to meet you. Uh, why are you snarling at me? Do all of you city dogs greet newcomers this way?

I’m with my pawrents visiting family in Los Angels for this thing they call Christmas.

We moved out of the dog house on wheels and are staying inside a house that doesn’t move. Weird! I’m staying at my Grandma’s house in this tiny little room with Mom and Dad.

The other day, they brought this tree inside the house. I haven’t seen a tree like this since we were at Jerry’s Acres. But over there the trees were outside the house, not inside! How strange huh? Then they put stuff all over the tree. I wonder where the skwirrels and birds are going to live?

Tomorrow night is supposed to be a big deal. I keep hearing Mom and Dad talking about taking turns with me all night and keeping me on leash when the little two-legger humans come over. Apparently they come over and make a lot of noise, then make a big huge mess.

Sounds fun. I hope I get to play too!

Can’t Keep a Great Dog In

Three legged German Shepherd rescue Wyatt Ray talks about wire dog crates to help with his behavior issues.

Mom, trust me. I’m fine here in this portable crate, I promise I’ll just stay here and play with my toys while you go out and have fun. Take as long as you want, really. I’m a big boy, I know how to take care of myself. . .

Hmmmph! Guess that didn’t work. This crate is long gone and now Codie Rae gets to sleep in it.

So Mom just got me this nifty wire crate. Check out how the door opens up on the side. Ain’t that the coolest? Mom got this one because it’s light and fits in the RV. They have really fancy ones that cost a lot of bones, but this one was a bargain, whatever that is.

Wyatt in The Other Door Dog CrateSo far I’ve only broken out of it once. But that was a very tough day, when Mom and Dad wouldn’t let me go herd the 30 goats outside our RV door. I wanted to herd them soooo bad! I’ll save that story for another time . . .

Meanwhile, I’m doing pretty good in my new crate. Today I stayed in it for a whole hour, and I didn’t freak out or anything. All I needed was a walk and a good meal before I was locked inside like a rabid beast. Oh, and covering it with a blanket helped too. I thought it was nightime all of a sudden. Duuuuh!

Mom says thank Dog for zip ties. She used a dozen of them to tie the crate sides and front door shut. Even 3 locks on the door can’t keep me inside! Hey, Codie Rae, tell your pawrents thanks for that idea . . . not!
