Patrolling the West

Three legged German Shepherd Wyatt talks about his life as a ranch dawg patrol at Vickers Ranch in Lake City Colorado.

A day in the life of me, Wyatt Ray Dawg.

Now that my pawrents are working long days at the ranch in Colorado, I get to hang out in my crib and keep an eye out for bears, deer, elk and those pesky rabbits. Sometimes they try to come around but usually they’re smart enough not to. I sleep a lot when I’m alone.

Other days I get to go ride around with Dad when he makes the rounds on the property in a jeep. He says there are 2,000 acres here, which I guess is a lot cause sometimes it takes us a long time to check it out.

Mom works in the office. There’s a lot of activity to regulate there and I get too tired trying to keep things under control, so I don’t go there much.

When it gets warmer I’ll get to go swimming in all of the ponds when Mom and Dad get off work. I can’t wait to swim again.

And now, back to work . . . zzzzzzzzzzz

The Sheriff Goes Back to the Ranch

Three legged German Shepherd Wyatt Ray Dawg goes back to ranch dog patrol in Lake City Colorado.

Wooohooo! On Monday my summer assignment begins and I’m back on payroll. It’s back to the Colorado ranch for me, where I will keep an eye out for things that don’t look right, critters that don’t belong and people who need some corralling.

Hold yer horses, there are some good stories to come!

Timewarp?

Three legged German Shepherd dog Wyatt Ray loves swimming in the rivers and playing in the snow.

Just last month I was swimming in a river on a hot day in Utah, having a ball.

Mom said “Be careful!” because the water was very fast.
So Dad kept me on my leash.

See, three legged dogs can swim! I told you.

Just when I thought summer was here . . .
We got on the road and went to Colorado.

And it was winter again!

Wheeeeeee! I love love love snow. I wish every day was winter.

Road Dawg Merit Badge. Check.

Tripawds Spokesdawg Wyatt Ray looks back on his winter RV traveling lifestyle.

When is a dog a Road Dawg? When he gets hauled all over the place for months and months. Like me.

What a winter it’s been. From Virginia to Texas. Then the prickly Arizona desert with mean thorns that stab your paws and make you stop in your tracks.

To the windy and hot sands of Southern California deserts.

There was a time when so much moving around would make my head spin and I’d go bonkers. I like things in order you know? I don’t know why my people like to move their doghouse around so much. They say it keeps things interesting. Humans are so weird. Life is about Order, isn’t it?

I don’t know why we live like we do and I probably never will. But now that I’ve been on the road for 3.5 years, I get that it doesn’t matter where my doghouse is, as long as my pack is safe and secure. No matter where I am, I do my job and I do it well. I don’t let things freak me out like I used to, because after all, that gets in the way of my responsibilities  Now I understand that if I stay in order, everything else does too.

And that’s why Momma sez I’ve earned my Road Dawg Merit Badge. Wooohoo!

Wyatt’s Tug War with Bernie Bin Laden

Three legged German Shepherd Dog Wyatt the Tripawds spokesdog shares fun video of tug war with bernie Bin Laden at Fiest Island dog beach on Angel Abby Tribute Day.

Never give up! That’s what I told Bernie Bin Laden back in 2012 when my peeps shot this video of us playing tug o’ war on the beach at Fiesta Island, a favorite place of Tripawd Warrior Princess Abby.

Yeah, it was a pretty special day. Everyone made a big deal about my first swim. Whatever, I got to meet Angel Abby’s mom! That was pretty pawesome considering Abby headed for the Bridge just the day before. Dang, wish I coulda met her, she was a cutie!

Some might wonder how we could play and have fun on such a somber day, but Abby wouldn’t have it another way. That girl sure knew how to be more dog, and focus on the now making the most of every day.

As for that Bernie character, I can still kick his butt.
