Texas German Shepherd Rescue Closing, 200 Dogs Need Our Help

Wyatt wants you to help save the German Shepherd Dogs at Camp Wolfgang near Dallas, Texas.

This thing called a recession is really hurting my shelter dog friends. Today, we got really sad when we heard that the good people at Camp Wolfgang, a German Shepherd Rescue near Dallas, Texas, are closing because they’re out of money.

The dog blog “Leaving Our Mark” posted that:

“The non-profit rescue group, located in Ennis, TX, is suffering budget shortfalls and is closing Oct. 30, 2009. While Camp Wolfgang primarily rescues German shepherds, there are also many other breeds, including a significant number of Rottweilers.

Sadly, there are nearly 200 dogs in the rescue and it is being reported that the dogs who are not adopted by month’s end will be moved to high-kill shelters, or euthanized. People throughout Texas and nearby states who are considering a new dog should consider adopting from a rescue.

Local rescues are trying to help Camp Wolfgang, but there is limited space. Every dog that is adopted out (from any Texas rescue) creates an opening for an at-risk dog at Camp Wolfgang. If you are able to foster a dog, please consider doing so now.

If you live in the area and are able to help one of these dogs, please contact the Kennel Master, Leisha Livengood at 214-755-1627.”

Please run as fast as you can and spread the word or adopt one of these dogs today. Camp Wolfgang needs you now more than ever.

Hey Everypawdy!

Wyatt give big shout out for Tripawds three legged dog play on words reference.

Check it out! Admin just started a three legged lexicon discussion in the shout outs forum. Tripawds member storm suggested the idea after noticing all the fun plays on words by three legged dog lovers in this ongoing thread celebrating Tanner’s ten month ampuversary.

I think that deserves a big shout out indeed! Great ideas from everypawty here in the forums and blogs makes Tripawds such a great community. Thank you all for your continued suppawrt. OK, that may be reaching a bit. But I’ll be hoppy to add everypawty.

Can you think of any pawsible words or phrases to add? OOF, There’s another one! 🙂

And the Mountains go BOOM!

Three legged dog Wyatt tells about his fear of thunder in Colorado.

Tripod Dog Wyatt Hears Thunder in ColoradoIt’s been cloudy and rainy here in Colorado. And yesterday, this huge BOOM! noise like I’ve never heard before came crashing down over my house. Mom said it was called “thunder.”

I sort of freaked out. That noise made me want to run around the house and hide under everything. So I ran a little, hid a little, ran some more, and didn’t calm down until bedtime. Back in Oakland, I heard lots of sirens and explosions and stuff, but they were nothing like this!

Mom and Dad aren’t sure about the best ways to help me get through this. They are going to order the book German Shepherds for Dummies
to see if there’s anything in there about why Shepherds act the way we do. Hopefully there will be something in there about how we can cope with things like this thunder stuff.
