Walkin’, Rollin’ and the Tripawd Twitch

Does your three-legged pet have a Tripawd twitch? Wyatt Ray shows off his herky jerky stump dance after a day at the beach.

Hey Tripawds friends, did you miss me?

I’ve been a little busy being a travelin’ dawg, going from Colorado to Washington. The humans took me out of the mountains.

Hey this beach thing ain’t so bad.

I thought it was gonna be a bummer but nope. I got to go to the BEACH!

It’s so cool being able to get out to the water. I couldn’t have gone that far it if it wasn’t for my homeboy Travis Ray. He loaned me his wheels ’cause he doesn’t need ’em yet. After my doggie therapist (no, not the kind that fixes your brain!) fixed the cart up for me, now I get to go on longer walks.

Later, when I got home I was so tired, but it’s all good.

Does your stump do the chicken dance too?

I dreamed about herding chickens! And Mom thought it was “so cute” when she saw me doing the Tripawd twitch.

Yeah yeah, my stump still twitches, cause when I’m dreaming I forget that my leg is gone. You would think after ten years on three legs that my sleeping brain would remember I’m a Tripawd, but nope.

Does your stump twitch too?

Tripawd Working Dog Asks, “Dude, Where’s My Couch?”

A Tripawd working dog needs his couch after a long day on the ranch, but his dad had other plans.

I don’t know why humans do the things they do. Take for example, my Dad’s latest project: building a desk for himself.

“Dad, what happened to my couch?”

Before we got to the ranch for summer, me and him used to sit on my couch during the day. I was hoppy to share it. He would bang on his computer machine, and I would snooze. Or, when my friend Austin visited, we took over my couch and Dad got to sit at the kitchen table.

“Guess we’ll have to crash at your house now, Austin.”

But every day Dad would say “Ouch” “Ugh” “Grr” when he would stand up after working all day. Mom said “It’s your back. You need a real desk for work.”

Then after one back ache too many, Dad got mad at the couch desk. So he tore it out. And then I knew we were in trouble.

Tripawd Work Dog
“Uh dad, are you building me a new couch?”

It didn’t take him very long to build his desk. And everyone thinks it’s great. But I sure don’t. No more couch for me.

Where do I sleep now?

That’s OK though. A Tripawd working dog like me has plenty of other things to do around here. Like help Dad at his other job on the ranch.

“Hey Dad, remember, safety first!”

Or just watch the office with mom.

“But Mom, why do you gotta go to work?”

That’s my life as a Tripawd working dog. But it’s not all work and no play. Wanna see what else I’ve been up to this summer on the ranch? I knew you did!

So There You are Summer!

See how three-legged Wyatt spent spring break in Colorado and Wyoming, and what he’s going to do next.

Oh man what a spring break that was. So there you are summer!

Tripawd German Shepherd
Hellooooo Summer!

Well, there was no spring break for my peeps. They just worked like always. But at least some of it was fun for me. I got to get some therapy with my friends at Colorado State. And I even made friends with some new veterinarians who didn’t want to poke me, they just wanted to be my friend! I’m like, “You’re pulling my leg doc!”

When we got to Wyoming I had lots of breaktime because it was so darn cold outside! Don’t get me wrong, I love cold. It’s my people that don’t. So we didn’t do a lot outside until last week or so. When the sun finally came out and things warmed up, out came my wheels.

OK fine but only if you give me treats.

I used to like my wheels but now they’re kind of annoying me. I think they are crooked or maybe I am. My mom is doing all kinds of therapy with me to make sure I stay in shape. Sometime soon she will tell you  about the contraption she sticks to my back, and the exercises where she IS pulling my leg!

We are leaving Wyoming today and going back to see my therapy friend Sasha at Colorado State. I know she’ll be able to make me like wheels again.

Did you miss me my friends? If so, I won’t let that happen again. I’ll leave you with this little movie of my life during spring break. You can play it over and over again until next time I come back here.

It’s time for me to get outside. You should too! What are you waiting for?

Hoppy summer everypawdy! Over and out…

Snow Dawg, Happy Tripawd Dog

Three-legged Wyatt Ray is once again a snow dawg, happy Tripawd dog playing in the Colorado snow.

Just when I thought I would never see it again, my dream came true.

Happy Snow Tripawd
Snow Day!

We brought the dog house on wheels back to Colorado for summer. But it’s not quite time for hot weather here in COOLorado! I’m so hoppy, my favorite kind of weather came back just for me.

I think Santa Paws came early. Like really early. I hope the white stuff sticks around. It’s my favorite way to pawty.

See You Down the Road, O.P.

See what happens when four, three-legged German Shepherds and one four-legged honorary Tripawd get together for the last ever Original Oaktown Pack play date.

Dog friends come, and dog friends go. Especially in my life, cause I’m a travelin dawg as you may know.

Three Legged Oaktown Pack German Shepherds
The Original Oaktown Pack: Smokey B, Austin Ray, Codie Rae, Travis Ray and Wyatt Ray

But my homeboys the Oaktown Pack are with me through thick n thin, even when we are far away from each other. They showed me how to be a Tripawd long ago when I came home from the hospital. I had no pack to call my own, they took me in like their brutha from another mutha.

So back in January when Smokey B (rest in peace my angel friend), Austin Ray, Travis Ray and the one and only Codie Rae showed up at my doorstep to kick off the new year, I almost lost my mind. I could not believe they drove for hours and hours just to see ME! And when they did, this is what went down.

It was the last time all five us us would ever be together as the original OP. I’m so glad we got together. Thank you Martha and Ralph. I will never furget those good times.

See you at the Bridge, Smokey B. You are furever missed.
